about
Recorded in June of 2022, written piece by piece over the course of a year. This is one of my first long-form releases. The other was a collaboration with another artist under a different name. It is also my only completed experiment in funeral doom metal.
There is a strange artifacting, fairly obvious in the interlude, of the organ samples I used. It was a free VST meant to emulate a church organ. I think before my next release where I need a church organ, I will purchase a proper VST with more thorough samples.
I will return to black metal shortly.

lyrics
This is a fruitless orchard
Nothing of value could ever grow here
Its soil cannot warm my aching bones
Its branches have not kept us fed
This is a fruitless orchard
And winter is coming soon
Some of us are starving
The rest are all long dead
I have grown weak, exhausted
My frame giving into torpor
Our fragile bodies keeping these
Trees alive to no avail
This a fruitless orchard
Nothing of value could ever grow here
But praytell my dearest friend,
Where will we go and not fail?
~
This awareness only brings me pain
There is no absolution
It is eternal servitude
Corroding my will to go on
Isolated in identical vessels
Promised Elysium in compensation
For each hour lost to anguish
Not angel nor mortal, my being's long gone
~
A wailing specter meets my aimless gaze
And once more wingless reaches out to touch
The barren wasteland cast upon my soul:
An unresolving void of wand'ring null
I'd softly close my eyes and never open
Singing 'til my voice can't further weep
In seeking comfort, held in sulfur's arms
As freedom from this hollow flesh and bone
~
This earth is not my home
Together, she and I grow ill
Under arms from distant idols
Who feast in our desecrated halls
We live alone together
While our flesh feeds the soil
Aching until we finally die
Tending to trees that bear no fruit at all

I'd long since been curious about black metal when I came across this record. This set me in the path of discovering more bm and accepting less-than-perfect metal production. Alvum
